J. L. Narasimham
Mr. J L Narasimham is an M. Sc. (Geology) and also an M. Tech. (Petroleum Engineering). He has spent two decades in handling reservoir and development aspects of some of the most difficult oil and gas field being operated by the Government of India's national oil company OIL and Natural Gas Corporation ONGCL. The fields namely Kalol, Nawagam, Wasna, Dholka, all located in Cambay basin near Ahmedabad city, hold significant hydrocarbon reserves in extremely tight clastic reservoirs locally called Kalol-IX+X pay. Well trained in well testing, he has the experience of carrying out reservoir studies like pressure buildup, drawdown, RLT, pressure fall off etc., in hundreds of wells. As a senior executive, he has lead a team of geoscientists in project management of drilling and completion of 120 development wells in Kalol field in record time of less than two years resulting into a quantum jump in oil and gas production from the field.
He was associated for 17 years in redeveloping ONGC's giant oil and gas offshore carbonate field Mumbai High and medium size fields Heera and Neelam. Horizontal drilling technology initiated by him in such reservoirs, with the assistance and guidance from international consultancy experts Gaffney-Cline and Associates (GCA), U.K., was a phenomenal success in trebling oil production from tight-thin carbonate reservoirs in both the fields. His outstanding contribution to the re-development of Mumbai high got him the coveted National Mineral Award from Ministry of Mines, Government of India in 2004.
